About This Project
Ecology North's NWT Science Focus Teacher's Portal is part of a larger project to bring interactive, hands-on science-based knowledge and experiences to youth across the NWT in order to inspire an interest in studying and pursuing science.
As a not-for-profit, Ecology North relies on funders to support its programs and initiatives. This website would not be possible without the generous support of NSERC's PromoScience Program (which also supported the development of the lesson plans on the website) and MACA 's NWT Youth Corps Program.

NSERC PromoScience Program
This project targets NWT youth in grades 6-12 by working with schools to deliver interactive and engaging environmental science programming. Ecology North is providing instruction, resources and support to encourage NWT teachers to incorporate scientific knowledge and experiences in their classrooms. By doing so, the project will help to prepare youth to be strong leaders, decision makers and stewards of their northern lands, cultures and economies. The NWT Youth Corps Program
The NWT Youth Corps Program supports programs that target non-mainstream, at-risk, and out of school NWT youth under 25 years of age. The programs must be designed to improve the outlook and opportunities for youth and help them choose to become healthy, educated people who are able to make responsible personal choices. Proposals to the NWT Youth Corps Program must contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the NWT Youth Corps program, namely:
